Flexibility
The local and remote systems can be different hardware and software platforms. The
remote hardware system can use any type of CPU architecture. The remote software
system can be any OS, as long as it supports NFS or CIFS. The storage systems can
also be different types of hardware--there is no need to use the same manufacturer's
hardware. In other words, MFS supports different cars and tires from many manufacturers
and makes sure they all run fast.
MFS is also very flexible as to how you set up your replication plan. You can have
different directories replicated to many different remote systems. For example,
you can replicate directory A to remote system X and directory B to remote system
Y. You can have all the files on your branch office systems replicated back to the
servers in your cata center. And let the data center IT professionals take care of
your periodic backup operations.
